- Tandem trip from the North Cape to Oslo (German), with my oldest son Nikolaus as part of his confirmation present.
- Tandem trip called our Tour de France (German), with my youngest son Mikkel as part of his confirmation present. We cycled from our German hometown Karlsruhe to Le Grau-du-Roi (near Montpellier) on the French Mediterranean coast. Then we packed the tandem bike and ourselves into a rental car and drove to Paris, where the Olympic Games were taking place. After cheering on Mikkel’s cousin Solveig, who competed in the Norwegian mixed relay, and some sightseeing in Paris, we got back on the tandem and cycled back to Karlsruhe.

- Den Store Styrkeprøven, a 550 km bike race – my participation (German).
- Oslo Marathon, 42 km (or Half, 21 km) run – my participation (German).
- Completing all three within 12 months made me a Hardhausen in 1996 (German).
- In the late 2010s, I was introduced to instinctive archery, loved it, and I’ve been practicing ever since.

Sports
Hiking (Summer & Winter)
- Hiking in Norway, Sweden, Canada and other locations.
- Crossing the Alps, 19-day hike with my middle son Peik (German).
- In the Covid-summer 2020, Kristin, Peik and I hiked the 400 km from Lillehammer to Trondheim. For part of the journey, we were accompanied by Mikkel and Niko and his girlfriend Madeleine. The humorous reason for the trip: we were supposed to bring Peik to Trondheim for the start of his studies, but we didn’t have money for tickets (neither plane, train, nor bus) or for gas for the car.

Recumbent Bikes
- While I was a PhD-student in the early 90th, I built several recumbent bikes like the TROLL
- I maintained the Norwegian HPV site.
- I manitained the German FAQ for recumbent bikes.
